16 Sep 2009Haribo has sour candies called MAOAM which are bringing in numerous complaints in Europe. The packaging, specifically for the lemon lime and cherry lime flavors, allegedly has pornographic implications. One man in particular named Simon Simpkins, who is a father of two, is outraged, claiming that the packaging of the lemon lime flavored MAOAM depict the lemon and lime fruits engaging in lewd behavior. He took it so far as to even bring it up with the manager. What did he expect the manager to say? Something like “I’m sorry, let me pull these off the shelves so you don’t have to explain to your kids why lemons and limes shouldn’t be engaging in indecent behavior?”
I personally have never seen this candy till today, but really, come on. It’s not like fruits have body parts. It only becomes nasty if you make it nasty. So shame on you Mr. Simpkins. Take your dirty mind out of the gutter and let your kids enjoy some candy. If I had kids, I wouldn’t think twice about letting them eat this candy. I’m willing to bet that little innocent kids would only see them as cute lemons, limes and cherries.
Haribo’s response was “this jovial MAOAM man is very popular with fans, both young and old.”
Judge it yourself, what do you think?

hahaha pretty funny. I think the dad needs to just chill out. It is just candy after all. I think you’re right that there is no way the kids would see the fruit as anything other than delicious.

Simpkins is the one with the nasty mind, no one would probably think of it that way unless they’re a pervert.
