Continuing on with my current chocolate streak, this one is Fresh & Easy’s Organic 73% Cocoa Dark Chocolate with Ginger. Now I am not a huge fan of ginger, but I am always up for trying new candy and I do love dark chocolate. As per the USDA Organic seal, all the ingredients, from the chocolate to the ginger chips, are organic. The entire bar has 30 segmented pieces, each with the word Chocolate printed on it. A reminder I guess, in case you forget what it is you are eating. Just kidding. Each piece is really small, so it is helpful for those of you who are into portion control.
Eager to get my dark chocolate eating on, I tried one piece and let’s just say I couldn’t swallow it fast enough. The 73% dark chocolate was enjoyable as it was not too sweet, but the ginger chips were another story. Although small, the ginger chips were placed all over the chocolate and each bite let you know the ginger was present. The ginger flavor was rather strong. Unable to eat another piece, I decided to give it a rest for awhile and told myself to try it again later.
Fast forward to the next day, I decided to give it another go. This time, I ate a couple pieces, and slowly it began to grow on me. Not enough for me to love the Dark Chocolate with Ginger bar, but enough for me to be able to eat it. I even became a little brave and sucked on a piece till all the chocolate was gone and I was left with just the ginger chips. It was mortifying, to say the least. So the trick to eating this chocolate is to chew fast and not let the ginger linger too long in your mouth. Overall, I rate this chocolate a two out of five. For under $2 at Fresh & Easy, it certainly isn’t for everyone but it won’t hurt your wallet to try. The taste may somewhat grow on you if you give it a chance. Otherwise, this is a must try for the ginger lovers.

Eww…ginger? That’s an odd combination. I hate the taste of ginger.
