I am lactose intolerant and although Lactaid products are my friend, I thought these Baskin-Robbins Soft Candy were a genius idea. A quick look at the ingredients and in bold I see “CONTAINS MILK.” Haha. Dairy never hides from us lactose intolerant people.
I have tried Baskin-Robbins Hard Candy in mint chocolate chip, but I have never seen the soft candy line. I found two soft candy flavors – mint chocolate chip and very berry strawberry. Both are really good ice cream flavors, but how would they taste as soft candy chews?
Starting with the Baskin-Robbins Very Berry Strawberry Soft Candy. Inside the box is roughly 20 pieces, individually wrapped in a shiny silver wrapper with the Baskin-Robbins logo all over it. The soft chews themselves are pink speckled with red. If you’ve had the ice cream, you’ll know the ice cream is also pink with red strawberry pieces mixed in. The strawberry flavor is actually pretty good and reminds me of the flavor (not texture) of Strawberry Hi-Chew. The texture of these Baskin-Robbins Soft Candy is what ruins it for me as I find it too soft.

The Baskin-Robbins Mint Chocolate Chip Soft Candy are packaged in the same wrappers as the very berry strawberry flavor. The candy is green with black dots all over similar to the look of mint chocolate chip ice cream. The black dots, of course, represent the chocolate chips. The flavor tastes like mint chocolate chip, but again, the texture is what throws it off. Although decent overall, I think the mint chocolate chip hard candy tastes better.

I bought both boxes on sale at 35 cents each. Overall, they’re just average. They both smell extremely delicious, but the taste and texture don’t live up to the ice cream. Let’s face it though, nothing would taste as good as the actual ice cream.
