Good thing I took a closer look since they are actually the new M&M’s Pretzel. On the bag is a cute picture of the Orange M&M holding up an X-Ray screen that shows he has a pretzel inside of him. If you’re one to care about the colors, the bag I bought had four M&M colors – red, blue, orange and green. The M&M’s website also lists brown as one of the available colors, but I have yet to find a bag with one in it.

The M&M’s Pretzel are round and slightly smaller than M&M’s Peanut. Inside each M&M is a decent sized pretzel ball. When I took my first bite, I noticed two things going on. First, the cracker-like texture of the pretzel is refreshing and different from all the other M&M’s. Along with a satisfying crunch, the pretzel also brings a salty pretzel flavor. You have the sweetness of the chocolate M&M’s mixing with the salty pretzels. The outer M&M chocolate layer isn’t thick, but it gives just the right amount of a sweet chocolate flavor to allow the saltiness of the pretzel to come into play.

Overall, these M&M’s Pretzel are my new favorite M&M’s. I really like how they chose salted pretzels over unsalted ones since the salty and sweet combination bring a nice play on the tongue. One thing I have to gripe about is that I bought a regular bag for $1, which I think is ridiculous considering I could buy a king sized bag of candy for around the same price. I later realized they aren’t all overpriced because I found them for much cheaper at Target.

So, I did not hesitate to buy the new, Limited Edition Snickers Fudge bar. I assumed that it was regular Snickers with a chocolate, fudgy filling. Only when I got home did I notice the description on the wrapper which described it as a peanut butter nougat with peanuts.

The new Snickers Fudge bar sports a new beige wrapper with light brown stripes. As expected, the huge Snickers logo is smack dab in the middle with “Fudge” written underneath. The exterior of the chocolate bar looks exactly like the original Snickers. The difference obviously lies within. The inside is neatly arranged with a peanut nougat lower layer and an upper layer of chocolate fudge and peanuts.

With my first bite, I mostly noticed the difference in texture from the original Snickers. The Snickers Fudge is easy to bite into and is first crumbly before it turns creamy. The nougat’s peanut butter flavor is subtle and together with the upper fudge layer and peanuts, the Snickers Fudge bar is a definite winner.

So they are not new to me, but I feel it is my duty to share with you the pleasures of eating these chocolates. They can be found at Asian grocery stores, but specifically Japanese stores. They cost a little under a dollar with plenty of strawberry chocolate goodies inside.

The packaging is a small, cute box with strawberries printed all over it. The chocolates themselves are shaped like fancy cones with the chocolate brown color on the bottom and the strawberry pink color covering the top. Matching its cute appearance, is its wonderful taste. There is nothing hidden inside these chocolates. It is a solid milk chocolate and strawberry cream. They manage to maintain their shape in the box, but easily melt in your mouth giving you this creamy sweet, but not too sweet, strawberry chocolate flavor. Never have I tasted such a delicious blend of strawberry and chocolate flavored candy where neither the chocolate nor the strawberry are overpowering the other.

I loved these growing up and I continue to love them now!

I chose the Almond Joy Pieces and also went ahead and bought a bag of the York Pieces. The bags are resealable and have the candies’ original logos on them – the Almond Joy with its blue bag and York with its gray/silver bag.

If you’re wondering what these look like, they look identical to the original Hershey’s Reese’s Pieces. If you don’t know what Reese’s Pieces look like, think M&M’s but slightly bigger. The Almond Joy Pieces come in three colors – blue, white and brown. All three colors are the same flavor, each filled with milk chocolate and coconut pieces. One thing not so noticeable are the almonds! They are listed in the ingredients, but I barely noticed them in the actual pieces. It is probably because the pieces are too small to fit whole almonds in them, so they have to use small chopped almonds instead. Although the almonds aren’t as evident as I would have hoped, these still serve as a tasty snack.

Almond Joy Pieces – Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

The York Pieces consist of two colors – blue and white. They taste just like actual York Peppermint Patties but in a smaller form. With each bite, the outer dark chocolate layer gives way to the very apparent and very strong peppermint flavor. Of course, if you were a fan of York Peppermint Patties to begin with, you will enjoy these as well. One downside is that the soft, crumbly texture of the original York Peppermint Patties gets lost in the M&M-like form of these York Pieces.

York Pieces – Rating: 3 out of 5 stars

Overall, the chocolates were just another batch of decent chocolates. Nothing much to rave about. They are worth a try just because they are new. Be warned though, they don’t come cheap as they cost about $4 each.

I have never heard of the flavor “Stracciatella” but apparently in Italy, Stracciatella gelato is the American equivalent of chocolate chip ice cream. The bag itself describes it as white chocolate truffles with cocoa pieces. They can be found in a light blue bag with a white flowery design, which for some reason makes me think of snow and snowflakes. Maybe this is a Winter edition and that’s why it was on sale? Regardless, it only cost me $2.97 so for 20 truffles, it is a definite “Yay for me” moment.

Upon first looking at these truffles, not only did they look appealing, but the chocolate chip reference really started to make sense. If I were to make up a chocolate chip truffle in my mind, it would absolutely look like these. They are round, white truffles sprinkled with black, cocoa pieces. Eaten whole, the inner creaminess and white chocolate flavor take over. The white chocolate is so sweet that had I not read the description on the bag, I would have never known there were cocoa pieces on these truffles. However, if I take a bite of just the outer shell, I can taste a very yummy hint of cookies ‘n cream.

If you love white chocolate or crave something sweet, these Lindor Stracciatella Truffles are a must for you. If you’re looking to get them merely for the chocolate chip/cookies ‘n cream flavor, you might be disappointed. You really have to search hard to find the cookies ‘n cream flavor. Even so, it is still delicious and definitely worth the cheap price that I got them for!

Looking at the wrapper, I had no idea what kind of candy it was or what it would look like. In my hands, it felt like some sort of candy bar, but what was it really? On the outside, the wrapper basically just has a picture of a lady with her hair designed with colorful polka dots. Little did I know of the treat that was waiting for me inside.

As soon as I looked at the actual candy, I realized what the polka dot design on the wrapper was for. Who would have known her hair would be the clue? And just like her hair, the actual candy itself is completely covered in pink, green, yellow, and white polka dot sprinkles. It actually looks really pretty! Inside, it is made up of two oblong shaped cookies, each coated with a thin layer of chocolate, stacked on top of each other.

Matching its appealing look is its delicious taste. The double layer of cookies gives this candy a nice crunch which is then enhanced with the gazillion polka dot sprinkles. The chocolate coating is just right, as the chocolate flavor is apparent but does not overwhelm with its sweetness. It is actually pretty similar to Frosted Animal Crackers. That said, Doña Pepa is really good but it tastes more like a snack than actual candy.

The candy is packed in a silver wrapper with a green image of South America in the background. A short description on the wrapper describes the chocolate bar as milk chocolate with peanuts. You could think of it similar to Mr. Goodbar with a higher chocolate to peanut ratio.

Specifically, Sublime is a 34 gram chocolate bar, small in length but pretty thick. Unlike a Mr. Goodbar, Sublime is more square rather than a rectangular bar. My first bite consisted only of the milk chocolate. The chocolate is milky and sweet, but nothing special on its own. I took another bite that included some of the peanut pieces and it tasted better overall.

All in all, this Sublime chocolate bar is anything but “sublime”. It is nothing to rave about. It was just average to me. If anything, I would have preferred more peanut pieces. However, even with more nuts, it would not make this chocolate more than average.

This Colombian candy called Beso de Negra is the candy equivalent or more like the unmelted version of S’mores. It is a big chunk of marshmallow on a cracker covered in chocolate. The bag I have has two pieces and costs $1.25. Seems expensive right off the bat, but let’s see if it lives up to its price.

The chocolate layer of my Beso de Negra consisted of cracked chocolate pieces. Granted, I have had these sitting around for awhile and it may have cracked from other candy I had placed on top of it. Even so, these chocolates were delicious! The inner marshmallow is huge and of a nice consistency. It is not sticky at all and is of a light, foamy texture. The cracker is not your typical S’mores graham cracker, but more cookie-like (which I like =D). Altogether, this Beso de Negra is really really good.

In English, “Beso de Negra” means “Black woman’s kiss.” I do not know why, but I wonder where they were going with that. In my opinion, $1.25 is pretty pricey for two pieces of chocolate, but most definitely worth it for these yummy marshmallow goodies.

They were sent to me by my boyfriend and his friends. So, thanks a bunch to James, Amparo, and Nicolle =D [Oh, and just for the record, they are in no way affiliated with these candies or the candy companies]. Now on to the first candy.

This is a Colombian chocolate candy called Chokis. The brand is Sonrie’s and interestingly enough, it is made by the company Frito Lay. Sonrie in Spanish means “smile,” so hopefully like Frito Lay’s chips, this too will make me smile. According to the wrapper, these are “chocolatosas y deliciosas” which translates out to “chocolatey and delicious.” But is it true?

The packaging is pretty simple and has a picture of round chocolate balls in different sizes. Upon opening it, however, I found that the chocolates are pretty much the same size, similar to Whoppers but slightly smaller. Also, these chocolate balls are really, really light and feel as if they are hollow on the inside. On the wrapper, the candy is described as “Bolitas de Maiz Cubiertas con Chocolate” which means “Balls of corn covered with chocolate.” After biting into one, it reminds me of chocolate with rice crisps. But remember, this is made with corn and is a lot more airy than rice crisps. They still have a slight crunch to them, but if you prefer a bigger crunch, you can always refrigerate them a little.

Overall, I actually like these Chokis a lot. The bag is a small 18 gram bag of chocolates for 95 cents. It may seem pricey for how small the bag is, but it actually has a decent amount of chocolate balls in it. I can’t give you the exact number due to how excited I got when opening the package. I just started popping them into my mouth without counting. The lightness of the corn crisps makes it really easy to devour a handful without even knowing about it. I really think these Chokis would taste great mixed in a bag of popcorn (But after the popcorn has cooled down, of course, otherwise you’d get melty chocolate which is a no-no).

Made from the company Rimann & Associates, the brand The Tea Room encompasses a wide range of tea infused organic chocolates. In this case, an organic milk chocolate bar infused with black masala chai tea. When I first read “masala,” I thought of this Indian dish called chicken masala. A quick search and I found that Masala Chai is translated in Hindi to “Spiced Tea.” The spices are a combination of ginger, cinnamon, cardamom, star anise, peppercorn and cloves.

The chocolate bar is in a gold wrapper and tucked into a purple box. There is nothing really fancy about the chocolate bar itself. No fancy decorations on the chocolate, just 15 segmented bars. With my first bite, I mainly tasted really sweet milk chocolate and a hint of spices. Somewhere within the hint of spices, I could taste cinnamon and chai tea. One thing I disliked is the milk chocolate itself as it was really sweet and practically went to mush in my mouth.

Overall, this is an okay bar of chocolate with a major plus for it being organic. I would have opted for more of a pronounced Masala Chai flavor and maybe better quality chocolate. I did, however, put the chocolate in the fridge and that seemed to help with the chocolate texture. For the price of about $4, I would not buy this particular chocolate bar again, but I am interested in trying The Tea Room’s other organic tea-infused chocolate bars.
