Skittles Spray Candy

As a huge fan of Skittles, I was thrilled to find Skittles Spray Candy. There is no information about these on the Skittles website since they are licensed by Candyrific. From what I saw at the store, there are sprays available from two Skittles varieties – Skittles Original Fruit and Skittles Sour. I bought three flavors – original strawberry, sour blue raspberry, and sour green apple.

skittles spray strawberry and blue raspberryThe first one I bought was a sweet and sour pack, which contains two Skittles Spray Candy. Each bottle contains 20 ml. Of all the flavors available, I chose two flavors I really like – strawberry from the Skittles Original Fruit variety and blue raspberry from Skittles Sour. Both of these sprays look fun and delicious. They are both compact, so you can easily store them in your purse or pocket for a splash of Skittles goodness whenever or wherever you desire.

The blue raspberry flavor is my second favorite flavor from the original Skittles Sour pack, so I was excited to try the spray candy. However, after trying it, I was completely let down. Although the taste is bearable, I don’t think it tastes anything like the actual Blue Raspberry Skittle. There is a hint of a blue raspberry flavor, but if I had not known beforehand, I would never have guessed the actual flavor. To make things worse, it wasn’t even sour. Granted, I do eat a lot of sour candy, so what may not be sour to me, might be sour for others.

Rating: ★★☆☆☆

Even though the Blue Raspberry Sour Skittles Spray Candy wasn’t that great, I still had high hopes for the Strawberry Spray Candy. It took about two to three sprays to get the candy going, but when it did, I wasn’t too happy. Although it does taste like the strawberry flavor from the Skittles Original Fruit assortment, it just doesn’t taste good in liquid form. When I sprayed it, I was first hit with the sweet strawberry flavor. The sweetness was a little too much, giving the liquid a thicker feel, reminiscent of liquid medicine.

skittles sour green apple spray candyNow for my ultimate Sour Skittles flavor – Green Apple. The spray candy I bought was the Green Apple Sour Skittles Light Up Spray Candy. The light up spray does not come in a pack of two, but is slightly bigger as it contains 30 ml. Also, it has this neat light up feature that I didn’t notice until after I bought the candy. Towards the bottom of the bottle, you can push a button to light up the inside of the bottle to match the flavor. In this case, the bottle lit up as green. One thing I noticed about this bottle in particular is that it sprays in a wide mist. skittles sour green apple light up spray candyI don’t like having to worry about it getting all over my face, so rather than a mist, I would have preferred more of a direct squirt. Regardless, the flavor was amazingly delicious. It is wonderfully sour and tastes just like the actual Sour Apple Skittles.

Rating: ★★★★☆

For $3 for all three of the Skittles Spray Candy, only the sour green apple flavor brought a smile to my face. In the end, I think the spray is a good idea, but the reason why I am a fan of Skittles is because of the chewiness and texture of the traditional Skittles.

fluffy stuff spider web cotton candy 1Growing up, I have always liked cotton candy. Not so much for the sweet sugar flavor, but more for the cotton texture and the melt-in-your-mouth sensation. Charms, a candy company that makes several assortments of cotton candy, has a Halloween version of cotton candy called Fluffy Stuff Spider Web Cotton Candy. The most thrilling part of this cotton candy is that it is sour apple flavor. Of course, the flavor sour apple has absolutely nothing to do with Halloween, but sour candy and I happen to get along very well =D

I opened the bag expecting to see green cotton candy, but instead saw white. It is, after all, called Spider Web Cotton Candy. It looks more like a giant cotton ball. The texture of this cotton candy is similar to fresh cotton candy, but probably not as soft. No packaged cotton candy beats the texture of fresh cotton candy. So I pulled out some cotton candy and of course it melted in my mouth. However, after every mouthful, I would be left with a little cotton candy that I had to chew. Not a big deal, really, as the flavor was really good. The apple flavor was not very sour so even if you are not big on sour candy, you might enjoy it. Regardless, it’s still very fun to eat.

fluffy stuff spider web cotton candy 2The Fluffy Stuff Spider Web Cotton Candy can be found at World Market for $1.49. It is almost like you are munching on air and because of that, I do not feel so health conscious eating it – which is why I’m finishing up the bag as I write this review. If you like sour stuff (or slightly sour, as this isn’t super sour) and cotton candy, grab yourself a bag before Halloween is over.

warheads qbz sour fruit chews 1As a fan of sour candy, I’ve always liked Warheads. So of course, I had to try out the new Warheads QBZ Sour Fruit Chews. There are four flavors in the box which are Green Apple, Strawberry, Blue Raspberry, and Watermelon. If you weren’t already aware, Warheads candies usually have a sour meter on the packaging to rate how sour the candies are. The rating system is as follows: Tart, Sour, Super Sour, and Extreme. These QBZ Sour Fruit Chews, in particular, have a “Sour” rating.

warheads qbz sour fruit chews 2The Warheads QBZ Sour Fruit Chews look like sugar cubes except in different colors. They are really chewy and are covered in sour crystals. However, they only have a hint of sourness, so even if you are not a fan of sour candy, you still might find these enjoyable. Usually with different flavored candy there’s a flavor that stands out more than the rest, but I couldn’t pick out a favorite from this bunch. They’re all pretty decent tasting, but not sour enough for my taste.

warheads qbz sour fruit chews 3The QBZ Sour Fruit Chews were only $1.49 so they are definitely worth trying out for yourselves. Sour candies generally have sour crystals that accumulate at the bottom of the bag, but I was disappointed to find that this bag didn’t! I really do hope they come out with a more sour version that’ll bump these QBZ Fruit Chews to the “Extreme” category and leave me sour crystals to enjoy at the end. Maybe they can even throw in the Black Cherry flavor from the original Warheads hard candy. So come on Warheads, make me happy!

twizzlers sweet and sour filled twists 1Hi everyone!  Welcome to my first post <3

The first candy I am going to review is this new bag of Twizzlers I found at my local grocery store, called Twizzlers Sweet and Sour Filled Twists.  Inside are two different colored Twizzlers, yellow and red.  The yellow flavor is “citrus punch” and the red flavor is “cherry kick.”  The “kick” and “punch” are what make these Twizzlers different from your regular bag of Twizzlers as they refer to the “tangy inside” that the Twizzlers are filled with.

twizzlers sweet and sour filled twists 2Although I first wondered what “citrus punch” was supposed to taste like, I have come to realize that the punch isn’t referring to the flavor of punch as a juice/drink, but is just referring to the extra “punch” the Twizzlers add with their filling.  The outer layer of the Twizzlers have a sweet lemon flavor, while the insides have a slightly sour lemony taste.  The insides are gooey and sticky but are a nice touch to these Twizzlers.  I personally enjoyed the inside sour filling more than the actual Twizzlers themselves.

The “cherry kick” Twizzlers were similar to the “citrus punch” ones but of course these were cherry flavored.  After eating a couple, I found that biting into the Twizzlers left its gooey center stuck to my teeth.  So I ended up just squeezing out the sour filling and eating that first before actually biting into the Twizzlers themselves.  Without the sour center, the “cherry kick” flavor reminded me of cherry fruit roll ups.

twizzlers sweet and sour filled twists 3Taste-wise these Twizzlers were all right.  I didn’t really think they tasted like anything special.  However, the candy was true to its packaging as they were sweet and sour filled twists.  All in all, I don’t think I’ll be buying another bag, but I don’t feel it was a total waste of money either (price was a little over $2).
