m&m strawberried peanut butter 1I have never been a fan of peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, so I was hesitant to try these new M&M’s.  They’re Strawberried Peanut Butter flavored limited edition M&M’s promoting the movie, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.   There are seven different wrappers for this particular flavor but the one I found was “The Twins” (collector’s pack 7 of 7). Inside the bag are three different colored M&M’s – red, brown and yellow with red speckles. I didn’t understand the yellow with speckles, maybe it was a transformed M&M? Who knows?

m&m strawberried peanut butter 2When I first popped one in my mouth, I tasted a hint of strawberry.  This was a very tasty strawberry flavor, but as soon as I realized it was there, it almost immediately disappeared.  That’s because the peanut butter quickly took over.  The peanut butter flavor overpowered the strawberry, but even so, they tasted pretty good.  I went from not wanting to try these to practically eating the entire bag in one sitting.

m&m strawberried peanut butter 3These Strawberried Peanut Butter M&M’s are a hit in my book.  They reminded me of Reese’s Pieces but slightly bigger with a delightful strawberry twist. If you haven’t tried these, they are only about $0.79 each so grab yourself a bag before they are discontinued.

twixelsI went with my brother to Target to buy another Xbox 360, and of course, I had to drop by the candy aisle. Target’s selection of candy has always made me happy and I’ve never left their candy aisle empty-handed. So on this visit, I came across Twixels, a variation of the ever so popular Twix chocolate bars. Although they have three flavors – creamy caramel, triple chocolate & French vanilla – the only flavor at this particular Target was creamy caramel, which of course sounds like the regular Twix bar. So what made this different? According to the box, 35 calories per stick.

twixels 2These Twixels are packaged in a tray that you can slide out similar to cookies. Inside are about 16 sticks that are not individually wrapped. Upon first opening, my immediate thought was that these Twixels are tiny. I mean TINY. The box does say “slender cookie sticks,” but I never imagined them to be this slender. So if you are thinking these are the healthy alternative to Twix bars, you are fooling yourself. These Twixels are 35 calories per stick merely because the sticks themselves are not only thinner than regular Twix bars, but they’re also shorter in length. Talk about portion control.

In comparison to regular Twix bars, these Twixels taste pretty much like regular Twix bars. However, I do notice a slightly different taste coming from the cookie itself, but not enough of a difference to matter. Despite their small size, they still have a slight crunch to them.

twixels 3I gave these Twixels a rating of 3 considering there isn’t much distinguishing these from its Twix counterpart other than the size and packaging. Therefore, I can’t justify paying $2.99 (Target price) for this box of Twixels when I can get my regular Twix fix for under a dollar.  Of course, if price isn’t an issue and you’re looking for smaller portions of your favorite Twix chocolate bars, you can get these Twixels, provided that you can limit yourself to just one or two in one sitting =D
