I have always been a Starbucks fan and on my latest pumpkin spice frappuccino run, I couldn’t help but buy their dark chocolate. There was no price tag on the chocolates, but I bought it anyway without giving it much thought. Later, I looked at my receipt and was surprised to find that it cost $1.45. That’s $1.45 for a small 35 gram bar of chocolate! Let’s see if it lives up to its price.

The packaging is very plain. Nothing really fancy about it, just a brown wrapper designed with lines and circles. To give you an idea of how small it is, there are only four segmented pieces and the entire bar measures at about 4 in. x 1.5 in. x .31 in. The chocolate itself is mediocre to say the least. No where does it state the cacao percentage, but I am guessing it is on the lower end since the chocolate is more sweet than bitter.

Overall, I don’t think the taste of the Starbucks Dark Chocolate justifies the price. I really don’t understand what these plain dark chocolates do for their brand. Maybe they should offer to grind up the chocolates to throw in our coffees. Or how about they just focus on releasing a dark chocolate beverage?
