Just like Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the Nestle Company’s Wonka brand is holding a Golden Ticket Promotion. To enter the contest, you can buy one of Wonka’s Exceptionals Chocolate bars. If you have the golden ticket that says “Congratulations” on it, you win one of five prizes. Grand Prize winners will get a trip around the world for themselves and up to three friends. If that wasn’t enough, they get a whopping $12,500 of cash to spend on their trip. Crazy right? The odds of winning the grand prize are pretty slim, but there are other prizes up for grabs. First prize winners get a $500 Airline Voucher, Second prize winners get a $50 Ticketmaster gift card, Third prize winners get movie certificates, and Fourth prize winners get 2 coupons for free Wonka chocolates!

To get a free game piece without buying any chocolates, you can mail in a 3” x 5” card with your name, address (no P.O. boxes), and phone number written on it to:

Hershey’s is having a Wrapper Reward Program to promote its new Pieces candy, which I assume is just like Reese’s Pieces but bigger. They come in four flavors – Reese’s Pieces, Almond Joy Pieces, Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate Pieces, and York Pieces. Go to their website, download their form, and be one of the first 25,000 to mail in the form along with ONE, full wrapper from either Reese’s, Almond Joy, Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate, or York and you will get a coupon mailed back to you for one free bag of their new Pieces candy.

For fans of Ashlee Simpson, check her out promoting the new additions to the Hershey’s Pieces line in New York:

Remember, you have to be one of the first 25,000 people and your entry must be postmarked by February 17, 2010. Great deal, so hurry and get your wrappers mailed!

halloween candy aisle

Just when I thought candy sales were doing fine, the results of a new survey released by the National Retail Federation indicate that compared to last year, consumers plan to spend 15.4% less on Halloween. Of the survey takers who said the recession made an impact on their Halloween plans, 46.5% said they would spend less on candy and 5.3% said they would not buy candy for Halloween at all.

For people who plan to spend less, that is completely understandable. Times are tough, but innocent, little kids should still have their night of trick-or-treating. For those who do not plan on giving candy to adorable trick-or-treaters, BOO to you!

People still have time to prove this survey wrong. Go out and buy some Halloween candy =D

candylicious dubai scale

I have always wanted to go to Dubai, but now more so than ever. That is because Dubai is now home of the largest candy store in the world! Called Candylicious, the 10,000 square foot store located at the Dubai Mall, has over 3,000 varieties of candy from around the world. As the largest candy store in the world, Candylicious will also have the biggest ‘Pick and Mix’ wall where you can create a ‘Pick and Mix’ bag filled with all the candies of your choice. To add to the candy fantasy world ideal, a 10-meter tall singing chocolate tree decorated with colorful lollipops stands in the center of the store. Also at the Dubai Mall is Candylicious Junior, a candy filled car that circles the mall to satisfy your sweet tooth and lure you to the Candylicious store.

candy exchange

The Cedar Crest Dental Center in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, is offering trick-or-treaters money in exchange for their Halloween candy. They are paying $1.00 per pound of unopened candy and are then going to send the candy to troops overseas. Dr. Ginger Vondell, a dentist at the Cedar Crest Dental Center, reasons that “visiting your dentist twice a year and brushing daily are great preventative measures, but doing away with excess sweets altogether would really give your teeth a healthy boost.”

I, personally, think that Halloween is all about the candy and, come on, it only comes around once a year! It is always fun to come back home to see which candies you got and compare them with your friends or siblings’ pile of candy. As far as dental hygiene goes, I think the main problem is that kids don’t brush well to begin with, so candy can definitely add to that problem. However, where there is a bad, there is always a good. When my brother was younger, he lost at least two loose teeth from eating Now and Laters. Would you rather have your loose tooth taken out by candy or by a dentist? =D

Of course, my love of candy makes me totally against this exchange of candy for money. It’s only a dollar per pound! One pound of candy makes me a lot more happy than a lousy buck. This dental clinic preaches that candy is bad for your teeth, but then goes on to say that they will send the candy you bring in to troops overseas. So how can candy be bad for your clients, but not for troops overseas?

If you are still interested in this dental clinic’s offer and you live in Lebanon, Pennsylvania, you can contact them through their website.
